Randy and Leslie Liles, Proprietors
Growing up as a young Marine Corp brat, Leslie always wanted to be close to the land and to animals. Her family settled in Vanleer, TN on a farm raising crops and polled hereford cattle once out of the military. Leslie then left home to major in agriculture at the University of Tennessee. She spent years as a veterinarian tech, and then went back to college to become a registered nurse. At home, she takes care of the land, her dogs, lots of chickens, and the business side of the farm. Together, Leslie and Randy have raised four boys. A his, hers and ours kind of love story.
Leslie never lets moss grow under her feet! She keeps a steady pace with her hands in the garden and at the local farmer's market. Leslie is fun to work with when planning that special event, and she is very creative working with people of all ages to challenge their senses and awarenesses while on the farm. If you need a day of sunshine, regardless of the weather, then you need to meet Leslie...
Born and raised in Kingston Springs, Randy knows every inch of the local land and waterways. He is a 5th generation Liles. The Liles family has over 155 years in the local Pegram and Kingston Spring areas. Randy's great grandfather, Dr. William Liles, is remembered as traveling through the community on a beautiful Tennessee walking horse to meet the needs of the ill in their homes. Randy's uncle Leo served as Postmaster from 1922-1932. Many members of the Liles family have protected and served the local community as farmers, firefighters and elected officials. Randy continues this family tradition of community service though his work as a contractor, fisherman, hunter/gatherer, farmer, carpenter, father to four boys and volunteer. After the flood, Randy remodeled the farm house and is currently working on the barns and other improvements to the property. He is also an incredible chef, story teller, and teacher of all things nature.
